Seven Classic Start

Microsoft included a long list of changes into its Windows 7 operating system – a new, different Start Menu being among them. But what if you don’t like this change? What if you prefer the classic Start menu you had on XP and Vista? Seven Classic Start is exactly the application you need. While the program is running (and you can set it so it automatically runs at startup so you don’t have to manually launch), it will replace the Windows 7 Start Menu with the classic menu you like.

The application is compatible with all 32 and 64-bit editions of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. To install Seven Classic Start, you will have to go through a standard setup process. This means you will have to download an executable, run it, then click through the setup wizard. You will be done in very little time.

While Seven Classic Start is running, you will see an icon in the system tray. Left click this icon and you will be presented with the Settings menu. Right click it and you will be presented with a context menu that allows you to close the application, access the About menu, and more.

The nice thing about Seven Classic Start is that it just works. Run the application and it will replace the Windows 7 Start menu with the classic Start menu. If you don’t want to manually run Seven Classic Start every time you use the PC, you can set it so the application automatically runs at startup. And if you want to customize the feel of the classic start menu, you can access the aforementioned Settings menu and change the colors, fonts, how the icons are displayed, and more.
